Champions of Animal Care Workshop

Hancock County Farm Bureau, Inc invites all 4-Hers enrolled in livestock projects and their parents to our annual:
Champions of Animal Care Workshop
Monday May 8, 2017 at 6:00 pm
Hancock County 4-H Fairgrounds 4-H Building
Pizza and drinks will be provided for 4H members so please RSVP by noon on Friday, May 5th, by calling 317-462-1113. (Respond with number of 4H members attending.)
All 4-H attendees will receive a Champions of Animal Care t-shirt during the workshop and become eligible to win door prizes at the end of the workshop.
Also, all 4-H participants will be recognized as a “Champion of Animal Care” during the Hancock County 4-H Fair. Additionally, attendees that win their division of showmanship at the fair will be awarded a $100 cash award during the Hancock County Farm Bureau, Inc., annual meeting in September. For attendees that are family members of Indiana Farm Bureau and win their division of showmanship at the fair, there will be a greater cash prize of $125 awarded during the annual meeting in September. Membership forms will be available at the Champions of Animal Care event.
During this workshop, we will discuss the importance of animal care and basic show ethics and how it takes all of us to provide the best care possible to our animals. We will also explore how the decisions of one of us impact all of us. Additionally, this workshop will introduce 4-H members and their parents to Hancock County Farm Bureau, Inc., the benefits of membership and all that we do to support 4-H and agriculture.
***This years topic will be focused on animal health. The program will focus on the difference between viral and bacterial disease and options to manage the health of animals accordingly. The Federal Government has made some major changes affecting access to antibiotics for disease management. As a result we will be offering a special session for the parents at 7:00 pm discussing some of the rule changes imposed by the federal government with a representative from Elanco.***
Agenda:
6:00 pm – Pizza dinner followed by “Keeping Your Animals Healthy” (4H members)
7:00 pm – “Changes to Antibiotic Rules and Your Responsibility” (4H parents and/or leaders)
7:30 pm – Conclude Program
